Non-native Spanish

Language Graduation Requirement: Non-native speakers of Spanish must demonstrate a minimum Intermediate level of Spanish before graduation.

To be exempt from Spanish requirement:

  • Show an official DELE or SIELE B1 certificate (send it to languages.university@ie.edu )
  • Place out of Spanish Intermediate level at IEU Language center (take the placement test)

Either of these means you don’t need to take Spanish lessons.

Freshman students taking Spanish classes have two options (indicate option on placement test):

  • Take Basic and Intermediate Spanish language classes during your first two years at IEU at no additional cost.
  • Study High Intermediate or Advanced Spanish in classes that prepare you for an official exam in Spanish at a rate which includes reduced group sizes, extra tutorials and overall attention to student’s needs.
