CASE STUDIES FOR ECONOMIC POLICY IN A GLOBALIZED WORLD is a base course that focuses on the application of economic concepts to describe, analyze, and to discuss economic policy actions and business phenomena.
The course aims to equip students with the necessary skills to better understand economic policy measures. By using data analysis and theory to better understand economic reality the course emphasizes practical applications of public policy design to real-world economic and business problems.
The course covers a range of topics related to economic policy decisions or public policy designs.
Students will receive comprehensive training in fundamental economic analysis based on economic policy decisions adopted in some Emergening economies as LAC countries as reference.

A key aspect of the course is the careful interpretation of figures. Students will develop skills to accurately interpret and understand the implications of the results obtained for economic policy and decision-making processes. Through this course, students will gain the skills necessary to navigate and make significant contributions to the field of economics.

GLORIA ALONSO

Economist, academic, with experience in design, management and evaluation of public policies, strategic planning and Sustainable Economic Development. With Master’s degrees in economics, and studies in Corporate Governance and Sustainability Management. Experience in national and territorial planning, environment of control and transparency in organizations. Experience in multilateral negotiation. Present in the current debate on financing the energy, environmental and social transition.

Skills

1. By the end of the course, students will be able to analyse economic concepts under practical application as tools to solve economic and social dilemmas..
2. Students will also be acquainted with the basics of economics acquisition of information, and data and statistics analysis.
3. Students will have conceptual and technical tools to discern the possible socioeconomic impacts of public policy measures adopted around the world.
