04 Nov FOSTERING WOMEN,S FINANCIAL LITERACY THROUGH KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND CONFIDENCE
Evidence shows that women exhibit fewer financial competencies than men, despite having a higher level of education. This is the result of two factors: gender stereotypes; and the lack of gender perspective in studies measuring financial competencies. We will review this evidence to be aware of which capabilities need to be strengthened in women and how to avoid gender stereotypes and gender biases in this field. Financial literacy not only will affect your wallet, but also the course of your life regardless your profession. it’s certainly worthy (and fun) to improve your financial knowledge and skills.
Through this seminar you will learn the concepts and acquire the competences that are key to manage your finances while developing the skills and confidence needed to become aware of financial opportunities and risks.
The seminar will cover topics such as the KAKEBO method to save, the use of EXCEL to manage personal finance, characteristics and functioning of different investment assets (stocks, bonds, commodities, real estate assets, derivatives, ETFs, mutual funds, etc.), how to create a diversified portfolio of investments to mitigate risk and protect from the loss of purchasing power caused by inflation. We will learn about the virtues of compound interest that according to Einstein, is the eighth wonder of the world: “He who understands it, earns it … he who doesn’t … pays it”.
