FROM EARTH TO ORBIT: INNOVATIONS, POLICY AND SOCIETAL BENEFITS IN NEW SPACE

This seminar will embark on an explorative journey through the dynamic realm of New Space, a term that encapsulates the burgeoning private spaceflight industry marked by increased commercialization and global participation.
The seminar aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the multi-faceted space sector, emphasizing the interplay between innovation, international policy, security, and the broader socio-economic benefits of space exploration and utilization.
Students from diverse academic backgrounds will engage with cutting-edge space concepts, examining the influence of international policy from major spacefaring actors such as the US, Europe, Russia, and China. We will dissect the role of space in national security and defense agendas, scrutinize technological advancements, and discuss the importance of responsible space utilization for the benefit of humanity.
An understanding of the current landscape of space companies, from established giants to emerging startups, will be fostered, providing students with insights into the ecosystem’s competitiveness, collaboration, and economic drivers. The sessions are designed to be multidisciplinary, fostering a holistic understanding that prepares students to become informed participants or professionals in the New Space Era.
