21 Jul INSIDE LIVE EXPERIENCES: EVENT TECHNOLOGY AND AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
This seminar introduces students to contemporary live events; such as concerts, festivals, sports events, and conferences, through the lens of event technology. Using real-world case studies, the first session explores how event technologies have evolved over time, leading to the integrated and seamless live experiences we encounter today. The course examines systems such as ticketing, access control, cashless payments, and event applications, and how they shape audience participation, operations, and cultural experience.
Situated within a global live experience economy valued at hundreds of billions annually, the seminar highlights how the scale and complexity of this ecosystem make fintech and integrated event systems essential infrastructure. The course emphasizes observation, discussion, and critical reflection rather than technical training, encouraging students to understand live events as systems where technology, people, and space intersect. It is also made to engage critically with questions of access, data, ethics, and power.
