04 Nov LOW-COST ENTERTAINMENT: MEDIA INDUSTRY FROM HOLLYWOOD TO SILICON VALLEY
The media industry has gone over multiple immense transformative phases in the recent years, going from watching TV from a family sofa to having an induvial ubiquitous service with tailor content such as Netflix, Roku or Youtube.
This seminar shall allow deep understanding of the until now existing ground rules of this industry and how technology and a fearful competition has tumble all existing rules creating the actual content consumption models and monetization patterns.
Student will win understanding on the value behind IPs and the potentially very fruitful gamble of creating content.
MARIA VALENZUELA
Maria Valenzuela, General Manager at Movistar Plus+ International, heads international coproductions and the distribution arm of the Spanish platform. Previously Maria has been Senior Vice President at Sony Pictures for 17 years.
She lived and worked in Germany, US, Japan, Taiwan and is fluent in English, German, Portuguese and speak Mandarin and French, conversational.
Skills
Students will learn to:
1) Identify the economic patterns behind the actual content proposition of services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, BBC or ROKU.
2) Analyze the core value of each service model from the consumer proposition to the content offering.
3) Recognize the challenges, strengths of the actual services as well and the possible evolution of those into the future.
4) And lastly think about the recent evolution of this industry and apply the learning from it (radical transformation and resilience) to other industries.
