NOT YOUR AVERAGE ARTS COURSE: LEADING WITH CREATIVITY

This seminar will demonstrate the nature of skills developed through arts-based exploration and the best practices in constructing environments that welcome multiple intelligences, encourage creative thinking, and yield innovation. Including opportunities to interact with live works of art, construct and test facilitated experiences, and analyze pedagogical materials developed by Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, North Carolina State University, The Good Project, and Lincoln Center Institute, this seminar will keep students on their toes and engaged in creative work as they apply
their learning practically to solve real-world problems.

RHEANNA ABBOTT

Rheanna Abbott is a strategist and instructional consultant dedicated to constructing catalytic educational experiences for all. With experience using creative facilitation to address transversal goals, Rheanna has used her skill set to support the development of organizational diversity, equity, and inclusion missions and frameworks as well as supporting teachers in exploring how creative pedagogies can address inequity and oppression. Having designed programming and solutions for schools and organizations including the City University of New York, Lincoln Center, and Planting Fields Foundation, Rheanna excels at utilizing creative expression to impact positive personal and organizational change.

Skills

OBJECTIVES AND SKILLS STUDENTS WILL GET 1. Students will be able to identify the soft skills essential for success in collaborative business environments and divise tactics for utilizing components of creative pedagogies and instructional best practices to solve real-world
problems.

2. Students will be acquainted with creative pedagogies and best practices and will be able to utilize components for facilitation, collaboration, and individual work.
3. Students will explore how creative pedagogies and best practices can support an effort to construct environments that provide equity, diversity, and inclusion.
